Our Story

Digital Church began on March 8th, 2014 as a virtual provider for church graphic and website design and development. From there, we expanded into native application development and church management systems. Our first website was developed at digitalchurchmarketing.com, built with the Avada Theme on WordPress.

On March 19th, 2016, we registered our Digital Church Marketing trade name as a DBA in the state of Ohio.

As we started working in this business, we realized that marketing was not the main thing we were focused on. We had found success in designing graphics and websites, but we wanted to create a digital platform for churches to build their own websites on. This platform would mature into a full-fledged church management system where churches could manage membership records, provide online giving, and publish their own sermons and podcasts.

Finding Our Name

On February 4th, 2017, we officially dropped marketing from our name and started going by Digital Church. We purchased the domain for dgtl.church and moved our entire business onto that domain.

As we continued to design graphics and websites for clients, we realized our domain choice was a little troublesome. It was difficult to explain D-G-T-L like digital without any vowels.

Growing the Platform

Over time, we split our business into different domains to focus on our specific products and services. On September 25th, 2018, we purchased digitalchurchplatform.com to serve as a sales site for the website design and church management platform we had built.

On January 22, 2019, we launched digitalchurchagency.com to better represent our creative agency services, providing custom design for sermon graphics, event graphics, signage, and apparel.

On May 16th, 2019, we purchased digitalchurch.app to serve as the technical domain for our church website design and management platform. This now hosts the main signup flow for new subscribers and provides development subdomains for client websites before launch.

Becoming Official

On August 13th, 2020, our business had grown to a point where it was time to create a Limited Liability Corporation in the State of Ohio. We registered Digital Church Limited.

Since then, we have continued to invest in infrastructure: digitalchurch.cloud for our content delivery network serving files through edge CDN, digitalchurch.chat for our upcoming communications platform, and digitalchurch.blog for free content and resources to help churches thrive in online ministry.

Where We Are Today

Today, Digital Church is an all-in-one platform that helps churches build effective websites, publish sermons, stream live services, manage events, accept online giving, and connect with their community through a native mobile app. We are based in Cleveland, Ohio, and we are passionate about helping churches grow their digital presence.
